Voters in Christchurch East say many are still suffering - three years on from the devastating earthquakes and want a new MP who will breathe life into the electorate.
In her valedictory speech to Parliament, the Christchurch East MP Lianne Dalziel said she would not be leaving Parliament if not for the Canterbury earthquakes.
The former Christchurch East Labour Party MP, Lianne Dalziel, is now the Mayor of Christchurch and, as such, is set to work much more closely with her former political foe, Earthquake Minister Gerry Brownlee.
A photograph of crowds of people surrounding two large-scale puppets, one of which resembles MP Gerry Brownlee. The puppets were made by Free Theatre Christchurch for Canterbury Tales, which was the main event of FESTA 2013.

Strange sign when the building it refers to is no longer there. Earthquake damage.
A bit of the now demolished QEII (Queen Elizabeth II) Park running track in the "Gap Filler" on the old Deka site in New Brighton (last occupied by a charity barn before a major fire and subsequent demolition).
Police prosecutor jailed for dealing drugs;Sharebrokers getting late rush of MRP investors;Pressure mounts on MP Aaron Gilmore;Police rule out anyone else being at risk;Mother of electrocuted son is pleased that electricians been named and shamed;NZ Post signals to Government it will need to invest in KiwiBank in two years;Judge says young killer could have made something of himself;Elderly in Christchurch say they are low on priority list for earthquake repairs and payouts.
Full of weeds after nearly two years of neglect. First time I have been in Victoria Square in over two years.
A week ago this building was intact, now partially demolished. Will be an empty site in a week or two.

Depicts National MP Aaron Gilmore walking off carrying two suitcases. A row of Christchurch insurance men are calling for him to return and saying they have the right job for his talents. Refers to Gilmore's resignation after National Party censure following to his drunken bullying behaviour to a waiter in a Hanmer Springs restaurant (3 News 13 May 2013) Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
The seismic survey truck T-Rex (from University of Texas) was in Bexley and Pacific Park a few days ago and may have left this calling card on the front lawn of my old "red zone" house. Obviously the geotechs will know what it means.
Growing in a red zone vacant section in Wetlands Grove, Pacific Park.
A red-zone house just a few down the road from where we used to live in Velsheda Street, with bricks (brick veneer?) off and lifted prior to transporting away.
Went for a drive down to South New Brighton/Southshore after work today to see what interesting birds I could find on the Estuary (godwits, skuas, terns etc), but passing Jellico Street, I saw this. T-Rex the seismic survey truck from the University of Texas that is visiting the city (first time out of USA). Weighs 30 tonne and from the marks o...

20130325_1112_EOS M-25 Water water everywhere! (Day 84/365) While the whole of the North Island is under drought conditions and parts of the South Island likely to follow suit, I doubt it will happen in Christchurch. With hundreds of earthquake road, water and sewer repairs underway many are spilling hundreds of litres of water per minute, like...
Depicts Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker striking a pose under a spotlight while standing astride broken masonry. He is being interviewed by media. On the right of frame, Progressive Party leader and MP Jim Anderton is under dark clouds and caught under the Beehive. Refers to the 2010 Christchurch mayoral elections in which Parker won over Anderton. Prior to the 2010 Canterbury earthquake, Anderton was ahead in the polls. The quake devastation was said to have given Parker a bigger profile than Anderton and been a factor in his win (TV3 9 October 2010). Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
