Christchurch Earthquake 2011 - In a Perfect World

The old Christchurch Railway Station Clock Tower was damaged during the 7.1 magnitude quake on 4 September 2010 and was braced by the wooden sleeve until repaired. However, although the sleeve did its job during the 6.3 magnitude quake on 22 February 2011, the lower part of the tower started to break away.

A bulldozer must have pushed earthquake debris up against the internal wall not realising there was a glass reinforced window at ground level".

To commemorate a 100 years of association with Antarctica Christchurch council has laid out for viewing the statue in a prostrate position. I was lucky to encounter the statue before it was put into its glass display enclosure".
