A rowdy protest was held in Christchurch yesterday over the Government's plan to revamp education in the earthquake-hit city.
Christchurch principals say schools' recovery from Tuesday's earthquake will focus more on emotional issues than infrastructure.

A mental wellbeing programme for primary and intermediate school students will be expanded to five more district health board areas. Mana Ake started in 2018 in Canterbury and Kaikōura, and was a response to the ongoing trauma some tamariki were experiencing following the earthquakes. Now more year 1 to 8 pupils will receive extra help if they're struggling. Our reporter Kirsty Frame was at the announcement in Auckland.
More now on the Minister of Education sticking with her proposals in February to close or merge earthquake-hit Christchurch schools, with the exception of some New Brighton schools.
