Christchurch Earthquake - When the Bricks are Down

A view after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch 04 September 2010. Victoria Street. So sad to see history die - both buildings and business. Given a bit of a HDR process to add some of what I was "feeling" at the time.

A photograph of the earthquake damage to the Country Theme store on St Asaph Street. Sections of the façade crumbled. The bricks have been cleared from the footpath below. Steel fencing and road cones have been placed around the building as a cordon.

A photograph of the earthquake damage to a building on Manchester Street. The top railing of the façade has fallen away and cracks can be seen in the brickwork of the wall below.

Corner Barbadoes and Kilmore

The distinctive red brick Piko Wholefoods seems to have survived. That building dates from 1905 and was originally a painter and paperhanger's premises.
