A photograph of an earthquake-damaged suitcase in the South Quad of the Christchurch Arts Centre. The suitcase is resting on a pile of scaffolding which had been constructed around the Observatory tower. The scaffolding collapsed along with the tower during the 22 February 2011 earthquake.

A view down a New Brighton Road next to the river. On the left sandbags have been placed on the banks of the river to prevent flooding onto the road. The earthquake caused the ground in this area to subside, making it susceptible to flooding.

Damage to the wall around a circular window inside the Durham Street Methodist Church. The plaster around the window is badly cracked and has chipped away in some sections, revealing the brickwork underneath it. The window has been weather proofed with plywood and braced with planks of wood.
