Much of the CBD is still cordoned off and without power (as you should be able to spot) as a result of the damage caused by February's deadly earthquake.

Went into this cafe a few times in years gone by (all on camera club field trips or photowalks). It was a nice two-storey building then. Not now after the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011.

Demolition continues on the old Beckenham shops after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch on the 4th September 2010. So sad to see history die - both buildings and business.

Known by the locals as the "Owner's House" of the large Farnley Brick and Tile Works which was situated nearby. Established by the Austin brothers in 1863 the brickworks were named after the town of Farnley in Yorkshire England, from where the family had come. Built in the early 1960s for the Lyttelton Road Tunnel, it was severley damaged in the February 2011 earthquake and is not currently used.
