Here is Christchurch

UC QuakeStudies' Community Collection has expanded to include three new collections of photographs from members of the public. These photographs originally formed part of the exhibition 'Here is Christchurch: A Family Album' held in September 2012, and have now been donated to our archive by the photographers.

Jocelyn Kinghorn, Helen Devereux and Peter Walker took photographs of their experiences after the Canterbury earthquakes, showcasing the ongoing changes and recovery efforts. Their photographs echo the aim of the exhibition: to portray the human experience of the Canterbury earthquakes, the aftermath and recovery.

Jocelyn, Helen and Peter have captured everyday scenes in the city, documented special events, and highlighted some of the personal efforts that are livening up Christchurch.

We're continuing to work on these collections, and are seeking out other contributors to the exhibition, or anyone else who wishes to showcase their own images of the changes taking place in Christchurch.  If you have photographs you'd like to donate to UC CEISMIC, you can do so at Christchurch City Libraries' Kete Christchurch or by contacting the team at UC QuakeStudies.
