QuakeStories

The earthquakes that struck Canterbury in 2010 and 2011 are among the most significant events in New Zealand history.

QuakeStories is a place to share your stories of the quakes, how they affected you - wherever you live, the aftermath and the ongoing story of the rebuilding. It will become a record for future generations, one that will continue to grow long after the quakes stop being news.

Please note that researchers in need of library-grade repository facilities are encouraged to use QuakeStudies.

When my home shook

Unlike QuakeStories and QuakeStudies, whenmyhomeshook.co.nz is designed with children in mind. The website is a resource to hear how Canterbury primary and intermediate school children personally overcame the recent disaster and provides personal accounts on how the community came together to help one another with the aim of documenting the stories in a book. Stories can be submitted as an attachment or as text within the email. All submitted stories may become part of the website and a documented book, and will form part of the broader UC CEISMIC archive.
